Alliance Française de Hyderabad, India, is presenting the work of Houda Bakkali from 7 August to 31 August 2024. An exhibition that combines physical art, augmented reality, virtual spaces and immersive pieces.

“It is an honour to exhibit in Hyderabad, “Haydar City” or “Lion City”, the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Telangana. A crossroads of cultures, languages and religions, until the nineteenth century it was known for its pearl industry, nicknamed the “City of Pearls” and the only commercial centre for Golconda diamonds in the world. Today, it combines this heritage with a commitment to research in science, engineering and technology. Hyderabad is creativity, science, art and diversity. The perfect representation of a glorious heritage and a future that aspires to greatness. A very unique city where I have the honour to exhibit my art at Alliance Française Hyderabad, an institution founded in 1980 to build bridges between cultures by promoting values and friendship around French culture and local cultures.

Hyderabad is the perfect fusion between my work, my motivations and the space that hosts it. The soul of the people who see it, hear it, understand it and immerse themselves in each of its versions. I chose “Rebel” as the main work in this exhibition because it was my first augmented reality created in Paris, which, like the city that hosts it today, is a perfect representation of a future without fear, full of joy, proud of its heritage, values, diversity and friendship,” says Bakkali.

“Digital art is not a trend, it is the present and it is the future. My art represents the need to tell stories through different environments, capable of surprising, in which the viewer can immerse themselves, as is the case of augmented reality that allows the public to become part of the work. It is a way of experimenting with my work, of experiencing its different versions. It also allows me to expand the story and give it life or give it several lives, as many as I want, changing the story, making it grow, introducing new characters and settings. The canvas becomes infinite. “Digital Art, Digital Culture” is an artistic project focused on creativity and technology to inform, train and entertain, creating art with different uses, explaining new concepts, sharing new ideas and creative processes. Creating a universal message of hope and joy, through color and shapes, without generational, temporal or physical limits. A timeless, happy, simple and useful message,” says Bakkali.

Bakkali’s exhibition hosted by AF Hyderabad is the best example of the versatility of digital art. Of its ability to unite synergies with audiences around the world without borders. Through virtual spaces, augmented reality and multimedia content, visitors can enjoy some of Bakkali’s masterpieces inspired by different ideas and with the female beauty as the protagonist, with a special mention to India and France, a country where Bakkali has exhibited on numerous occasions and has been awarded with the Paris Design Awards in 2020 and the prestigious New Talent Award at the Artistes du Monde Festival in 2018. in Cannes, amongst other distinctions.
